Vacancy Search (looking for a vacancy)

Use the drop down menus (grey arrows) to choose the relevant criteria and then click on the “search for home with vacancy matching my criteria” Bright blue button at the bottom left of the page.  If at this point you are looking for

1. A specific home and have the name or postcode type either in and click on Get Homes

For a list of homes with vacancies we recommend that you use the following criteria at this stage.

2. Select the County

3. Select the vacancy type required

4. Expand Client type and select, then, shrink client type

Explanation of stay types   ALL is home has said that whilst there is a vacancy they are willing to accept respite or any stay type.

                                                  Long term   Permanent

Short term from a few weeks to a few months (or DAY CARE where home advertising)

Respite     Available for respite care only

An example of a result of a vacancy search is shown below for an example: ‘Bristol, DE client in a nursing bed’

Figure 3

Some searches may generate more than one page of results. This will be displayed, for example as “Showing homes 1 to 7 of 17” on the left side of the page. This means the search has given you 17 results over several pages. If you want to view the homes on the other pages just click on the blue highlighted area with “Next Page” written on it.

On this occasion the example has 1 result. (The most you will see is 7 to a page).

If you wish to view all of your results they can be viewed by going to the bottom left corner of your screen and clicking on the printer friendly version you can scroll up and down your results (Much easier than scrolling across)

If the search does not display any homes, or any that you believe suitable or you are aware of a home, which definitely meets the criteria but it is not displayed, then click on “Search for all homes”. This will display all homes that meet the criteria of the patient you have entered whether they have a vacancy or not. Additionally on the right hand edge a tick box will appear in a column entitled “Notify”. If you wish to be notified of a vacancy at this home which meets your criteria simply tick the appropriate box and enter the e-mail address to which this notification should be sent in the box at the bottom left titled “Email me when new vacancy”. You may request notification from multiple homes.  However if there is more than one page you will have to repeat the process on each page.

So although you might have been looking for a Nursing vacancy for a DEM client in Bath, you will now see ALL homes that take DEM patients be they Nursing, Residential or Nursing accepting Residential.  It does however quite clearly state in Home type what they are in the “home type” column.

All homes meeting Criteria of care

Home details

If you then click on the blue underlined home name of the home you are interested in, this will display all the details about that home and the vacancy – for example, see below:-

 Summary of all Vacancies

When you click on summary of all homes with vacancies it will give you the following information: -

This is an overview of all vacancies. By any county selected

Figure 6

Fee Band explanation:

Client Dependent = Might accept Social Care with top up or if Nursing depends on Care package

Self Funded = Probably the cost is outside of the local Social Care price, or Private funded

Social Care Rate= Home has said that it is accepting at their local Social Care rate

If you select the county you want then click on any of the categories written in blue under ‘HomeType’ you will be shown all the homes with vacancies in that category. This is not a recommended way of searching for a vacancy!  This is because you are not looking for a specific client type.
